What Is Fascia — and Why Does It Matter?

Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue that runs from head to toe. When it’s healthy, it’s flexible and fluid. But injury, repetitive stress, surgery, inflammation, or emotional stress can cause fascia to tighten and restrict movement.

Because fascia connects everything, restrictions in one area can create pain or dysfunction somewhere else — even far from where you feel the symptoms.

Myofascial Release addresses these restrictions at their source, rather than just treating isolated muscles.

What a Myofascial Release Session Feels Like

This work is:

  • Slow and intentional

  • Gentle, sustained (not deep or forceful)

  • Performed with careful listening to the body’s response

Unlike traditional massage, there’s no oil and no rushing. Your therapist waits for the tissue to respond and soften naturally. Many clients describe the experience as subtle, calming, and surprisingly powerful.

It’s common to feel:

  • A deep sense of release or “unwinding”

  • Improved mobility and ease of movement

  • A shift in pain patterns

Greater body awareness and relaxation

Conditions Myofascial Release May Help With

Myofascial Release is often helpful for people experiencing:

  • Chronic pain or tension

  • Neck, shoulder, or back pain

  • Headaches or jaw tension

  • Postural imbalances

  • Restricted movement or stiffness

  • Old injuries or surgical scar restrictions

  • Stress-related holding patterns

It’s also beneficial for those who feel “stuck” in their body and want a more integrative, whole-body approach to healing.

Our Approach

We don’t force the body to change — we create the conditions for it to change.

Using the principles developed by John F. Barnes, our therapists work with curiosity, patience, and respect for your body’s innate wisdom. Each session is tailored to what your body needs that day, making this a highly individualized form of care.

Is Myofascial Release Right for You?
